I also have the Marlin 917 VS .17 HMR. Was able to zero in with only 6 shots. So far hiting nickle size targets at 65 yards all day. Now shooting old C size batteries at 80 yards. Next I want to start shooting at spent .17 shells suspended on large tooth picks or maybe at a horse fly ( at rest of course not flying around)

i bought this sweet 3 X 12 a couple days ago. the clairity of the glass is not what i would expect from BSA. i sighted it in today, air temp was +31 degrees.should have brought a pipe wrench with me to adjust the 3 X 12 power ring. almost impossible to adjust in the cold. in the house it works fine. i'll be surprised if this review makes it online. my first and last BSA!

I put this scope on my Marlin 917VS 17 HMR and I was more than impressed. I shoot Hornady and Winchester Supreme 17gr V-Max bullets. I bore sighted it to 100 yards. Took it to the range and was putting 3 shot groups inside of 100 yards. The wind and elevation turrets were perfect. At 200 and 300 yards I was hitting the metal animal silhouettes every time.
The scope sets itself up very quickly in the field as well. I've taken three coyotes inside of 100 yards with head shots. I've made a center mass shot on a coyote at around 250 yards as well.
I've never shot anything but Leupold optics on all of my rifles until I bought the 17 HMR and the guy at the gun shop talked me out of a Leupold and into a Sweet 17. I had never even heard of BSA up until that point. I'm buying a .223 here soon and I can assure you I will be putting a Sweet 223 on top of it. For my big game calibers I'll continue to always shoot Leupold, but BSA has won me over with the varmint calibers.
Keep up the good wo

Of course this scope works great on my Savage outdoors.
100 and 200 yards small groups are no problem.
What impresses me more is how clear and brite the view is indoors at 50 feet.

I purchased this scope for my Savage .17hmr. I had to put high rings on this to compensate for the size of the scope so had to do some extra sighting in. After 13 shots to sight it in I was shooting a 3/4" group @ 100 yards. I have been unable to shoot beyond that since I don't have that option at shooting range. I would recommend this scope to anyone.

Hornady 17 HMR / 17 grains. Ruger 77/17 bull. Verified two targets @ 100 and 200 Yards ... +/- 1 yard. Zero set at 100 yards with tight groups ... set the turret. Dialed scope to 200 yards and shot 10 inches high on 200 yard target. Returned to 100 yards and hit 200 yards at 8.5" low, which is about perfect ballistics. Reshot 100 yards in tight group. Scope doesn't do the yardage set job at all.

I am very pleased with this scope. I have a marlin 917v .17hmr rifle that this scope sits perfectly on. I can put a 3 shot group in 1 1/2 inches at 100yds. 3 shot group in 2 1/2 inches at 200 yards thanks to the elevation turret that is perfectly calibrated for the 17hmr bullet. This scope is truly one of the clearest scopes i have ever looked through and is very bright for the price. Buy this scope for your .17hmr, you will not be disappointed. Thankyou BSA for a fine product and saving me time and energy by not having to fool around with "aiming high" at long ranges.
